One-One: Remake, Remodel

Baby Shoes and Briefcase
Ok - So, I'm at the 10-year mark for the blog, which is pretty amazing considering that i've kept anything going that long (job, notwithstanding). Trouble is -uhmm, err.  I can't really prove it.  See - the first few entries have gone awol... I could have sworn I had a list of resolutions from pre-9/11 that were so shiny and reflective of the naughty oughties (you know, the post-election ennui that we had Dubya and crew, but not quite the forthcoming angst of 9/11 and the tech-bubble burst). I seem to recall most were not surprising and very cliched (beginning of my gym-obsession and to fit into overpriced denim. Oh, that and a constant need for recognition/meaning). Secondly, I did have fits and starts - so I can't technically tell you that I'm at 10 years - but I could be, well a few months shy? Oh well.   So, I'll not do any big fan-fair (not that I have any fans. I guess I do what every blogger has done for the last decade - self-sustain.)  So - no starlight parades, innaugural address or blingy banners to tell you that I've been blogging for way too long.
To that end, what am I going to do for 2011 + this decade? Well - get a new job and career for starters. I've got to get some more professional blogging under my belt before I can start to enhance my - ahem - side projects. That said, you can expect some changes on my old, trusty website. (I've already made it more business like). Will this be business like? No - I'll still keep it to varied and strange interests, uninformed rants and eclectic nostalgia that only I could think was interesting.
In the meantime - to show you I'll remain true to my school - I just discovered this awesomeness of this animator. Check out this Recent profile on WENDY VAINITY in DIS Magazine. She's awesome in her unrelenting use of technology and persona - maybe this is the direction i need to go this next decade.

All You Protest Kids...

So - the video of Jamie and I at Saturday's protest march made Towleroad, which is kinda funny b/c I hadn't really intended to have it broadcast on the national blogosphere... And had I known, I certainly would have made an attempt to edit it better. (However, I love that another protest-goer comments: That is the worst footage ever. It makes it seem like a big jumbled mess instead of the well organized and powerful statement that it actually was.. Yeah, uhh - how about a big cup of STFU? There's more to this march than my crappy video obviously, and the fact you probably wanted some sweeping epic makes me wonder which march you attended? But - not to dwell... The march was good, not great. It probably could have used 200 more people to be honest and the video actually makes it look like there were more people than actually were there. Also - while I was happy to be part of this protest, I think the audience (Capitol Hill) is in agreement - Homophobia has no place. It's the hidden bigots and barbarians at the gate (read - people from out of town, other places) that have a problem with gays.

In any case - the video is here for any who are interested.

PS - yes, the jar-lamps are very easy to make and you bang 'em out in under 1/2 hour. Just need medium squarish mason-jars, coat hangers, a good pair a pliers (that can also cut wire)...

Cancelled Due To Writers Strike

Today was one of those days where I felt like Bruce Dern in Silent Running; running around the space station with very little human contact. I've been sick and coming out of quarantine, but decided not to go to the company party at EMP. It's literally 30 degrees out and miserable (and since I've been good about not drinking and taking it easy this week, I figured don't push it). Instead I stayed in, cooked a salmon and watched Deadwood (*which I've had out on Netflix for ohhh, 3 months?)... I've come to conclusion that while I find it interesting, the characters intense and nasty (kind of like a corporate environment on steroid rage, surrounded by mud and bad grammar). I don't think I'll finish the rest of the season...
Instead I've been catching up on various gay art blogs. I found this image courtesy of Kaiserin (tagline: A magazine for boys with problems). I've been actually reading on zine assembly (courtesy of a little book called Stolen Sharpie Revolution). It makes me wanna get my sharpie and start something. I've still held the rites to Indiefag.com (or maybe it's gone... not sure) - but something where I can put my manifesto up for all to see... But then again, I really don't have a manifesto (except, be nice and try to give people some room in life), and it wouldn't take up more than 2 pages. Oh, and isn't this what this blog is for? I guess I wanna be prolific in some fashion...
